Building Consulting Confidence and Style
This workshop offers an intensive, focused opportunity to look at your consulting style with GISC’s signature combination of support and challenge. Using cases that participants find particularly problematic and at their developmental edge, we will explore consultant use-of-self in depth. You will be encouraged to identify your core competencies, and pushed to look at aspects of yourself that may lead to difficulty in your work. The result will be a clearer sense of the connection between who you are and what you do; a sense of how you do what you do; and a sense and experience of how to do it even better.
The work will blend the supervision method used by psychotherapists with case consultation methods used in consultant development. We will explore the explicit and implicit assumptions that direct your interventions, and look at how some of your strengths can be obstacles when overused. The format will include a range of experiences including casework, self-analysis, and group discussion. Participants will have opportunities to expand their ability in shadow consulting to each other.
