Our training programs have more impact in a short time than most others. Recently I asked one of our new students how he came to study at GISC. “I kept noticing certain individuals in my work having more presence, more impact,” he said. “When I’d investigate, I’d find they trained with you.”
As the critical importance of relational skills is getting more focus, GISC is becoming recognized as a leader in their development. We provide a unique inside/out perspective, teaching you how to become aware of yourself and others, and how to recognize and build on competence to promote and facilitate change. Our learning model provides opportunities both to discover and experience a new perspective, and to practice the skills and reflect on them with peers, making sure that when you return to your own life you can immediately apply what you have learned (although like any other new skill it takes continued practice and attention).
We’re listening carefully to those of you who return each year to practice and energize your skills. We’ve added introductory and advanced workshops, and opportunities to sponsor workshops locally. We now offer customized training and development based on our core programs, as well as the use of our beautiful Meeting House for facilitated retreats for your team, organization, or clients. Finally, you’ll notice a new design for our catalogue, reflecting our commitment to excellence, our distinctive combination of developing personal awareness and professional skills, our dedication to building continuing relationships with our students, and our focus on making a difference, one conversation at a time.
If you’ve never been here before, I invite you to invest in a learning experience that will transform the way you work in organizations, with individuals, and your own personal development. I joined GISC in January of 2007 as President and CEO because of how its programs and people have changed me. I am more honest and effective working with others. I am a more skilled listener and observer. I am more optimistic in approach and open to a wider range of choices in any situation. Along with our founders, Edwin and Sonia Nevis and our entire faculty, I welcome your interest, your inquiries, and hope we’ll see you in one of our programs soon to experience the benefits yourself.
