Sharona currently consults to SPAN, a Boston organization that works with inmates and former inmates throughout Eastern Massachusetts, where she has been supervising staff groups there for close to a year. She is also affiliated closely with the Massachusetts Eating Disorders Association, where she helped form and continues to serve on a Professional Advisory Committee. She has been an active professional member of the organization as well as a frequent presenter at local and national conferences on eating disorders treatment, on topics such as Maintaining Optimism When Working With Families With Eating Disorders. Sharona has also worked as a consultant for Jewish Family and Children Services in Newton, MA, where she ran groups for couples dealing with issues related to being in an interfaith relationship. For fifteen years Sharona worked at an agency called Little House, where she worked with folks coming out of prison, living in and coming from halfway houses for addictions, and with people in recovery from a range of addictions. During her time there, Sharona got her training in working with systems, and did a great deal of family therapy, often with multi-generational families - work that she found very satisfying. For the past few years Sharona has been active in Second Step - an organization that provides support and education for victims of domestic violence and for the community – helping to create their mentoring program, train mentors, and providing clinical supervision. |
