This workshop will be particularly useful to clinicians, psychotherapists, and managers who anticipate or are already moving their careers into organizational work. While clinical skills and managerial experience are useful in coaching and consulting
work, there are some very different contextual and practical considerations that people making this shift into a consulting role are often not fully aware of or skilled in applying.

The workshop will be highly interactive, focusing largely on cases and concerns of participants. There will be opportunities to practice, as well as short presentations of highly relevant theory.

Benefits

Participants will:

  • Learn to define the boundaries of the assignment and identify the client within the system.
  • Redefine with the client the scope of the assignment if it becomes necessary during the course of the engagement.
  • Identify well-developed and less developed group behavior patterns in organizations.
  • Approach one-to-one coaching as an organizational intervention; holding a systemic perspective while focusing on an individual.
  • Learn about timing when to move from awareness and data gathering into implementation and action.
  • Heighten their awareness of attitudes toward authority and power and use them as a positive factor, rather than a hindrance.

Participants

This program is designed for those professionals who are moving their careers into organizational consulting and coaching, particularly psychotherapists and clinicians, as well as managers who have been focused on technical competence rather than
process effectiveness.

“Last year, I was a volunteer coaching client in your Coaching program. A year later I still have locked in my mind the lessons learned from my session at the Gestalt International Study Center. For me, the impact of training is measurable not only
in the immediate skills attained but also the lasting effect the training has on my development as a person and as a professional. The session I attended exceeded my expectations in terms
of immediate skills learned, the quality of the participants and teachers, and the long-term ways in which I have integrated all
the information from my session into my life – both personally and professionally. Thank you for the opportunity.”
