GISC Leadership Series
Presence, Use of Self, and the Keys to Authentic Leadership
This series of programs is designed for mid-level leaders.
To be effective leaders, it’s essential to bring our most authentic selves to our roles. A well-honed presence enables us to productively interact with others, improve our mutual experience, and generate the energy to learn and lead. This requires us to be aware of our values, strengths, personality, and beliefs, and to develop facility in using this awareness – our “use of self” – in our interactions with others.
In this series, you will raise your self-awareness as a leader, learn to engage constructively with an ever-changing workplace, expand your choices in how you lead and connect with others, apply new lenses to the work of inclusive leadership, and take action to promote resilience and wellbeing in yourself and others.

Courage and Change
For leaders, inspiring others to grow and thrive in a changing workplace is as important as embracing change itself. This “Courage and Change” program equips leaders with the tools, mindset, and practical strategies needed to lead with courage, support others through uncertainty, and foster a culture of continuous learning and adaptability.
This dynamic, four-hour online program will enable both non-profit and for-profit mid-level leaders to expand their leadership impact in an ever-changing workplace.
Benefits
As participants in this program, you will be able to:
- Understand the emotional impact of change and how it affects both leaders and employees.
- Recognize the different stages of the change curve and identify ways to support yourself and others at each stage.
- Assess your own leadership strengths and areas for growth.
- Cultivate curiosity, learning, and humility as essential leadership qualities.
- Reframe the need to “manage” change by embracing the reality of an ever-evolving workplace.
- Explore the role of optimism and courage in leading through uncertainty.
- Learn how to lean into resistance and harness its energy to motivate others.
- Discover that effective change leadership often begins by connecting to the current experience or situation.
Relational Intelligence
In today’s evolving workplace, leaders are called to navigate complexity with clarity, connection, and courage.
Major shifts in the workplace continue, disrupting organizations and challenging leaders. Trends such as remote and hybrid work, employee wellness, artificial intelligence experiments and the ongoing need to restore trust in workplace, leaders have increased responsibilities. Navigating these complexities can be daunting and requires leadership, courage, and intention.
In this highly experiential program, mid-level leaders are invited to deepen their relational intelligence by becoming more intentional in how they lead and connect with others. We will explore the role self-awareness plays, examine the balance of strategic and relational skills and identify the competencies required to grow your relational intelligence.
Grounded in Gestalt principles and the practice of “use of self,” participants explore their leadership presence, surface hidden patterns of behavior, and develop a balanced approach to strategic and relational influence.
Benefits
As a participant in this program, you will:
- Strengthen self-awareness as the foundation of meaningful leadership
- Understand and explore your personal leadership presence
- Discover your well-developed and less-developed leadership behaviors
- Balance strategic and intimate interactions through intentional choice
- Create conditions for trust, curiosity, and psychological safety by increasing awareness of your personal communication style
